Photo + caption: Prince Street salon opening

[Piece 1 of 1 — photograph with caption; the caption's two text columns sit on separate glued pieces and are joined here in reading order]

Photograph: Inside the new Prince Street hairdressing salon during the opening party. At right, the hairdresser Michael Assee — long dark hair, moustache, a satin shirt with a ruffled front and light wide trousers — stands at work on the hair of the seated "Miss Trinidad and Tobago", Maria Jordan, who sits in a salon chair in a patterned sleeveless top and matching wrap skirt, hands folded in her lap. A group of women guests look on: at the left a young woman in a sleeveless white mini-dress with a wide belt; next to her a woman in a patterned blouse and dark mini-skirt holding a drink, a handbag over her shoulder; behind them several more women, one of them in a light dress with dark embroidered trim reaching towards the seated woman. Fr. Michael Pascall, who is named in the caption, does not appear in the photograph — the only man pictured is Michael Assee.

Caption:

MICHAEL (Assee) and GLORIA (Nasiff) gave a large party last week to mark the opening of their new hairdressing salon in Prince Street.

The business should be a tremendous suc- [text continues on the second glued piece] cess — Father Michael Pascall came all the way from Cedros to give it a special blessing.

In the picture, Michael demonstrates his skill on "Miss Trinidad and Tobago", Maria Jordan.

[Notes: the caption's sentence "The business should be a tremendous success" is split mid-word across the two glued pieces ("suc-" / "cess") and is joined above; the dash after "cess" is as printed. A stray ink fleck precedes "way" in the second piece ("came all the way from Cedros") — read as the evident word. Note there are two Michaels in this item: Michael Assee is the hairdresser in the photograph; Father Michael Pascall attended from Cedros to bless the opening but is not pictured.]
